KAMILĖ GALLERY – RIPPLE EFFECT
KAMILĖ GALLERY is pleased to present RIPPLE EFFECT, an exhibition of works by artist George Aitken at the Council House location. Presented across the ground floor of the building, the works on view re-create the artist’s momentous capture of the water reflection through the colored fluorescent light. George Aitken is leading light artist in Western Australia, who has been studying reflective light and glass behavior since 1983, starting his career at Claude Neon. George has collaborated with numerous artists on works presented at the collections of Art Gallery of Western Australia, Fremantle Arts Centre, Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery, City of Perth Collection and historic State Buildings.
Exhibition RIPPLE EFFECT translated through coloured fluorescent light reflects a spreading effect or series of consequences caused by a single action or event, like ripples expanding across the water when an object is dropped into it. The artist’s work presented in the exhibition ranges from individual wall- mounted constructions to large- scale light sculptures as a testimony to his fascination with architecture and physics.
Preview the exhibition at the Council House, 27 St George’s Terrace between September 1 through October 10, 2023.
