Summer Sips with Emma Farrelly
Emma gives her recommendations for her favourite wines around the building.
Post – Cascina Galarin ‘Barivel’ Arneis 2023 Piedmont, Italy 21/105
A fragrant and graceful wine laden with white flowers, peach flesh and fresh apple. Purity is front and centre with fine boned texture and poised minerality.
Petition Kitchen – Small Wonder ‘Landscape’ Rosé 2024 Tamar Valley, Tasmania 17/85
Delicate and pretty. Full of high tone pink fruits – watermelon, rhubarb and cranberry. Tangy, expressive and bright. Perfect summer drinking in the new Petition Kitchen alfresco garden!
Wine Merchant – La Kooki ‘Temptino’ 2023 Ferguson Valley, WA 16
A juicy and light bodied blend of Tempranillo and Vermentino. Crunchy and taut with pomegranate & cherry cola notes. Think sangria type vibes…
Beer Corner – Juniper Estate Fiano 2023 Margaret River 15/75
Australlian Fiano just keeps improving and this is a perfect example. Nashi pear and wild herbs with saline freshness. Nutty, textural and compelling…yes please.
Long Chim – Vino Volta ‘Different Skins’ 2023 Swan Valley, WA 19/95
I love this wine so much. A clever expression of carefully managed skin contact winemaking, that offers both insane aromatics and chalky complexity. Think Turkish delight meets Campari.
Wildflower – Domaine de Courbissac ‘Notre Terre’ 2023 Languedoc, France 19/95
A curious blend of direct-pressed grenache noir and terret gris, aged for nine months in amphora. Preserved lemon, grapefruit, spice, green herbs and salt. Deliciously complex and alluring.
Lola Underground – Artomaña Txakolina ‘Xarmant’ Txakoli 2022 Basque Country, Spain 19/95
A perfect ‘white wine on arrival’. Tense and ticklish with fresh cut celery, green apple, jasmine and soft herbs. A subtle phenolic tug on the finish alongside a salty, moreish drive.
