TREE MAN, a large-scale interactive installation coming to Cathedral Square.
Created in response to the digital-driven culture of contemporary times, Tree Man by ENESS’ screen-shaped head, watches over a sapling encircled in his large, inflatable arms. Tree Man highlights the importance of humans connecting with and nurturing the environment, offering a sanctuary for the young tree, as well as for visitors who take respite in his arms.
As visitors enter Tree Man’s arms, the over 4 metre high inflatable installation is triggered, creating soft light pulsation and diffused colour, like sunlight through foliage on a sunny day. Meanwhile forest melodies provide a relaxing soundscape, over a recording of the surrounding environment, which is replayed each hour, designed to mimic the way that the internet and social media is an archive of our lives as they are happening.
Making his way to Cathedral Square from the i Light Singapore festival, Tree Man makes his first visit to Perth for a limited time only.
