History

Today, the State Buildings stand at the heart of Perth's cultural and social life. Constructed between 1875 and 1958, the precinct was known for much of its life as the Old Treasury Buildings, housing various public offices of State until the mid-1990s, when the buildings fell vacant. What remained was a remarkable architectural legacy: Victorian Georgian, Victorian Second Empire and Federation Free Classical styles united in rare cohesion across a single city block.

The Old Treasury Buildings

Redevelopment commenced in November 2012, with Palassis Architects engaged as Heritage Architect and Kerry Hill Architects leading the restoration and interior design. On 15 October 2015, the State Buildings began their new chapter, opening as home to some of Perth's most distinctive dining and boutique retail, anchored by COMO The Treasury, one of Australia's finest luxury hotels.
